Once Human: Can’t Place Your Base? Build Tip to Avoid Issues

Today on Reddit I came across this post:

In it, a player explained that they could not place their base because they had been gone too long and their property was packed up. This is a recurring issue in Once Human for anyone who steps away long enough for their base to be reclaimed. The problem is especially serious on permanent servers where frequent world merges take place and many players only log in once per week to maintain their progress.

The current system has a clear flaw. If you cannot drop your property, you cannot properly edit or interact with it. Finding a placement spot requires very flat ground, which is often difficult to locate. Two areas that players recommend are outside Tall Grass Inn and outside White Cliff, both of which offer large, flat surfaces. Another problem comes from the fact that if you cannot drop your property, you also cannot enter build mode. Unless you live entirely on someone else’s property, you are stuck. There is no way to destroy your entire base and start fresh.

The best workaround right now is to build small and simple, directly on the ground. This reduces the risk of being unable to redeploy your property after being gone for several days or after a world merge. A compact 3x3 block is enough space to function without overcommitting. Even with a narrow entryway, this design provides room to build, decorate, and run a farm.

This flaw in the building system should be something that Starry Studios and NetEase fix quickly. The game monetizes through a cosmetic cash shop, with housing items being a top seller. The developers should want to ensure that players are not frustrated by being unable to place or use their property.

What do you think? Have you been inconvenienced by having your house packed up or by a server merge? Did you encounter problems when trying to place your property back down? Let me know in the comments on the featured video.
